Our Mission

Historical Spotlight aims to explore pivotal events in American history and illustrate how competing ideologies have affected and continue to shape the development of the United States. Our video presentations examine economic, political, and philosophical issues that are seldom included in traditional history textbooks. Those wanting to deepen their understanding of a topic can access the resource page for more information. We believe these resources will be a welcome addition to any high school, homeschool, or charter school curriculum, or for anyone wanting to learn more about American history.

The Roman historian Livy once wrote, “In history you have a record of the infinite variety of human experience plainly set out for all to see: and in that record you can find for yourself and your country both examples and warnings: fine things to take as models, base things, rotten through and through, to avoid.” At Historical Spotlight, we believe that a proper understanding of past events is crucial for understanding the present and avoiding making the same mistakes as earlier generations. We hope you will learn something new and be inspired.
